Hershey Eyeing Second Straight Title

(Hershey, PA) -- The Hershey Bears will get a shot at history tonight. The Bears can take home their second-straight Calder Cup with a win in Game Six against Coachella Valley.

The Hershey Bears are on the brink of securing their 13th Calder Cup title after a 3-2 victory over the Coachella Valley Firebirds in Game 5 of the finals on Saturday (June 22). The Bears now lead the best-of-seven series 3-2, and will have a chance to claim the championship with a Game 6 victory on Monday at GIANT Center.

In Game 5, Jimmy Huntington scored twice for the Bears, rallying the team from a 2-1 deficit in the third period. The Bears' head coach, Todd Nelson, earned his 69th AHL playoff victory, moving him into third place all-time in AHL head coaching playoff wins.

The Bears have been performing well throughout the series, with players like Hendrix Lapierre, Joe Snively, and Ethen Frank leading in scoring against the Firebirds. Lapierre is currently leading the AHL playoff scoring race with 20 points in 18 games.

The Bears have shown resilience throughout the series, bouncing back from a 2-1 series deficit after a 6-2 loss in Game 3. They have also been strong on the road, setting the best road mark in club history during the regular season.

The Bears will host the Firebirds for Game 6 of the Calder Cup Finals on Monday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at GIANT Center.(hersheybears.com)
