(Harrisburg, PA ) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Education says the state will need thousands of new teachers, hundreds of new principals and thousands of staffers in other critical roles within three years. They add that new teachers seem to be taking offers from surrounding states because Pennsylvania only pays about 40-thousand-dollars a year for starting salaries. Educators say the pandemic also intensified teacher shortages.
