Light Snow Coats Area Today/Bitterly Cold and Wind on Saturday

SNOW SHOWERS:

A weak "clipper" system will move through this afternoon bringing us some light snow this afternoon and this evening. Little more than a Coating to 1" is expected but that will cause some slick conditions in many spots for our Friday afternoon commute. Once the system moves out later tonight, the door will be open for more frigid air to arrive from the North.

BITTERLY COLD WEEKEND:

Another push of cold air will arrive in time for the weekend. The winds will whip back up on tomorrow and bring back some subzero wind chills. An EXTREME COLD WATCH has been issued for late Friday night through Sunday morning. The CBS 21 Weather Team has declared Saturday a WEATHER WARN DAY for dangerously cold wind chills that will drop to as low as -20! Winds at times could gust as high as 40 MPH, so make sure you have a plan in place if you would lose power during this frigid stretch of weather.

Super Bowl Sunday will be a quiet day for travel to and from any parties with calmer winds, but it will be cold with outdoor temperatures here in the Teens at kickoff.
