Reading, Pennsylvania has been named the tenth hottest housing market in the United States, according to a joint ranking by The Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com. The Spring 2025 Housing Market Ranking highlights metro areas with high demand due to their lower cost of living and proximity to economic hubs. Reading's ranking reflects its appeal as an affordable option near major economic centers.

Harrisburg-Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has also been named one of the top housing markets in the United States. The Harrisburg-Carlisle area is recognized for its affordability, quality of life, and accessibility to major metropolitan areas. Jimmy Koury, President of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS, stated, "Being named one of the country’s top housing markets reflects Harrisburg’s growing appeal." The region offers a balance of affordability and community, attracting more buyers to the area.

The Spring 2025 Housing Market Ranking evaluates 200 metropolitan areas based on real estate demand, economic vitality, and lifestyle metrics. The list showcases areas where rising home prices have affected first-time and lower-budget buyers, leading to increased demand for affordable housing options, particularly in the Midwest.

Toledo, Ohio, tops the list, followed by Manchester-Nashua, New Hampshire, and Rockford, Illinois. Harrisburg-Carlisle's inclusion in the ranking underscores its status as a desirable location for homebuyers seeking affordability and quality of life.
