There is a change coming to one of Hersheypark's iconic roller coasters!
One of the park's oldest coasters will get new trains next season. The cars will be built by Philadelphia Toboggan Coaster, (the same company that built the Comet back in 1946). The new cars will have a three-tone blue color scheme with a glittering metal flake treatment. The lead car will feature a logo reminiscent of the early 1970's Comet logo but with a new treatment and the Hersheypark logo will also be on the first car.
The Comet is a special roller coaster for Hersheypark because it was the last coaster added to the park by Milton S. Hershey. Back in 1946 it was considered the largest roller coaster in the U.S. and it was green when it first opened. The reason...Milton Hershey liked to have the rides blend in with the scenery of the park.
