The Phillies are honoring frontline heroes on Opening Day and a nurse from Enola is one of them.
LPN Kerri Wenerick is one of 41 essential workers who have been chosen out of almost 500 nominations. Kerri says “it’s more than a job to me. I never walked into this pandemic thinking at the end of the day, oh I’m gonna be honored by a Major League baseball team.’
Kerri has been a nurse for 9 years and has worked at Country Meadows Retirement Communities in Mechanicsburg for the last 3 years. Over the last year she has managed the COVID unit at Country Meadows working through some long shifts, sometimes lasting 20 hours. Throughout the pandemic she has helped 165 seniors recover from COVID.
Kerri’s colleages and residents surprised her by creating a baseball-themed video they submitted to the Phillies’ competition as a way to say thank you for everything she has done.
