Jeremy Renner was almost crushed to death by a 14,000-pound snow plow in January 2023 and goes into gruesome detail about the incident in his new memoir, My Next Breath.
The project, slated for release next Tuesday, draws on the "strength of the human spirit" and unveils details that Renner hasn't publicly discussed, including that he saw "my left eye with my right eye" after his head was smashed on his driveway, per People.
The Hawkeye actor told the outlet that reflecting on his recovery made him appreciate how miraculous the human body is.
"Writing about it has been very emotionally cathartic to have to go word by word through it all again. I don't not talk about it. It's part of my life every day, and it's always a wonderful reminder of the strength of the human spirit, and how fragile the body is, and how badass it is at recovery."
Renner, who was hit by the plow while trying to save his nephew, sees the horrifying ordeal as a "wonderfully positive" experience because of how things ultimately turned out.
"I'm not haunted by the incident — not too often anyway — by the images, the sounds. But I am reminded of my new reality, and it's wonderfully positive. I didn't die."
My Next Breath will officially hit shelves on April 29.
