The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for parts of eastern Pennsylvania, including Berks, Lehigh, Chester, Montgomery, and upper Bucks counties. The warning is in effect from 7:00 a.m. Sunday (January 19) until 1:00 a.m. Monday (January 20). Heavy snow is expected, with total accumulations ranging from 4 to 7 inches.

Road conditions are anticipated to become hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses. The National Weather Service warns that travel could be very difficult. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens on Sunday night and remain below freezing for several days, leading to icy and slippery conditions even after the snow has stopped.

Residents are advised to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicles in case of emergencies. For the latest road conditions, drivers can call 511. PennLive reports that the storm could lead to over 6,000 weather-related vehicle fatalities and more than 480,000 injuries each year.

A additional Winter Storm Warning is also in effect for the Poconos and northwest New Jersey. Residents are urged to prepare for the storm and exercise caution if travel is necessary. WFMZ advises that temperatures will remain below freezing, increasing the risk of icy roads.
