Angelina Jolie is finally moving on from the drama with ex-husband Brad Pitt and has come out on the other side of their lengthy divorce battle feeling lighter.

During a recent interview, the Maleficent actress explained that she has found the "greatest gift" amid her eight-year legal battle with her ex that finally came to a close last week after the former flames finally settled their contentious divorce, per Page Six. She also admitted that during her more difficult moments, she would question whether the "light" inside of her had dimmed.

"You're an artist, and you go through different things in life," she said. "And you wonder if certain parts of you have shut down, or who you are, what you have inside of you, and if your light's dimmed, and if you have less to contribute, or if you don't know yourself..."

Fortunately, Jolie's light is returning and was even helped along thanks to her role as opera singer Maria Callas in the film Maria, a lauded performance that has earned her praise and award nominations.

"And what a gift as an artist, to be pushed again at this time in my life, to do something that terrified me and I wasn't sure I could do is the greatest gift," she said.

The sentiment was echoed by a source who recently told People that Jolie has been "trying hard to be light after a dark time," especially for her six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

"The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don't matter. Their pain doesn't count," the source said, adding, "They have wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years..."
