More than a month later, Cameron Boyceâs parents, Victor and Libby Boyce, are remembering the last night they spent with their son before his untimely death.
During Wednesdayâs episode (August 14) of Good Morning America, the actorâs mom and dad sat down with host Robin Roberts on the show to speak about the âbeautifulâ evening the couple shared with the Descendants star, not knowing it would be their last. âThe night he passed away, we were out to dinner with him just hours before. It was a completely normal, beautiful family night out to dinner,â Victor told Roberts alongside his wife, per Us Weekly.
âThere was no indication that anything was wrong,â he continued. âI mean, there was no way to know in hours my son would be dead. Like, it was just staggeringly crazy and horrible. And we were texting that night.â
As many know, Cameron died in his sleep on July 6 after enduring a âmassive epileptic seizure,â as determined by the M.E. of the Los Angeles County Coronerâs Office. He was 20 years old.
Elsewhere in the interview, Libby expressed that Cameron, who was diagnosed with epilepsy three years ago, didnât want his medical condition to âdefine him,â to which Victor added: âIt didnât define him. He wasnât scared. He never complained about anything.â
âHe loved life. He was kind of in a place â for me this is the hardest thing â he was in a place where he was truly happy,â Libby continued. âI mean, Cameron was always happy, never a negative thing came out of his mouth, but he was really just finding his groove.â
Her son, who Libby adds, was passionate about using âhis voiceâ for charity. In his honor, both the Disney Channel and Adam Sandler sparked donations to the Thirst Project, which Cameron was âdeeply committedâ to supporting.
