The King of Bachata, Romeo Santos, called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday morning to talk about his new album and its big-name collaborations.

In fact, his show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles sold out, so he had to a second night on May 24!

“It’s a blessing,” says Romeo. “I’m really extremely excited [about] my second solo album. It’s been an incredible musical journey. I started with Aventura over 10 years [ago], and now this is my second album. I’ve been a solo artist for three-and-a-half years, maybe four, so I’m really blessed.”

His new album Formula, Vol. 2, features none other than Nicki Minaj and Drake … so was he worried they wouldn’t be able to pick up Bachata (a Latino genre of music that originated in the Dominican Republic, as well as a sexy style of dance)?

“To be honest with you, every time I’m gonna produce a new record, I’m thinking about artists and the caliber of Drake, Nicki, I have that fear, like ‘Ok, will they be able to adapt to what Bachata is?’ And to be honest, it’s always been their initiative, they always want to sing Spanish, and I find it incredible. The funny thing is they do it so simple, you would think they’ve been influenced or listen to Bachata for a while.”

Tickets for Romeo’s second Staples Center concert are available on!
