PIAA Guidance Forfeit Games Due To COVID

(Mechanicsburg, PA) -- Officials are clarifying forfeit guidelines. Over a dozen football games throughout the state have been canceled due to COVID-19. New protocols set up by The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association could cause some of those cancellations to be considered forfeits now. The association states if a game is postponed for any reason, including for COVID, teams must make every attempt to reschedule. If the game is unable to be rescheduled, it will be considered a forfeit unless an appeal can be made that the team had no other option to a district committee. If both teams agree to cancel, it will be considered a no contest.
