Rita Wilson is on the mend after battling COVID-19 alongside her husband Tom Hanks. The famous couple recently returned home to L.A. after being quarantined for weeks in Australia after testing positive for Coronavirus in March.
âWeâre doing great actually and so happy to be here and be healthy and be over it,â Rita shared with Ryan Seacrest on-air on Monday, May 4. âNow weâre trying to pay it forward a little bit by donating blood and giving some plasma which hopefully will help.â
The duo both donated to UCLA to help aid in Coronavirus relief efforts. Hanks then shared a photo of his plasma on social media.
âWe had excellent medical care in Australia and Iâm blown away by the healthcare workers here in America doing everything that they can,â Rita added. âItâs really inspiring to see people go to work every day with masks and gear and sometimes homemade gear to make sure our families stay alive.â
The actress added that during quarantine she went a little stir crazy and decided to see if she could remember the lyrics to Naughty By Natureâs âHip Hop Hooray,â which she had to learn for her role in 2019's Boy Genius.
âAfter I started feeling better ⊠I thought I wonder if I still remember âHip Hop Hooray,ââ Rita shared. âI wanted to see if my brain was sharp enough. ⊠It took me like a month to learn it when I was doing the movie but I did [remember] and so I thought maybe Iâll put this online and thatâs a way of letting people know Iâm doing OK and that I still have my sense of humor.â
Her post ended up making its way to Naughty By Nature's Vin Rock who has since collaborated with Rita on a now-viral remix of the track, with proceeds going directly towards the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund to support members of the music community.
Rita shared with Seacrest that she also had the âinternet to helpâ when it came to teaming up with Lee DeWyze for her new track dropping May 8th titled âWhereâs My Country Song?â
âItâs about women and how women have always been there for us in our country kind of behind-the-scenes,â Rita shared. âWhether youâre a mom or someone who works at a store ⊠itâs really about those women who quietly and with dignity go along and live their lives.â
