'Good Times' Star Ja'net DuBois Dead At 74

Ja'net DuBois has died at the age of 74.

According to TMZ, the actress, who was one of the main characters on the classic '70s sitcom Good Times, was found dead on Tuesday (February 18) at her home in Glendale, California. Ja'net's family told the outlet she died unexpectedly in her sleep.

Sources added that Ja'net hadn't complained of any specific ailments recently and appeared to be in good health to those around her. She reportedly attended a fan event in Hollywood earlier this month.

Ja'net was a respected name in show business. In addition to playing the Evans family's feisty neighbor Willona Woods, who was the adoptive mother of Janet Jackson's character Penny Gordon Woods on Good Times, she appeared in a number of films including I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Tropic Thunder, and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Ja'net was also known for her voice as she composed and sang the theme song, "Movin' On Up" for, The Jeffersons and starred in a number of Broadway plays, including "Golden Boy" with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. as well as A Raisin In The Sun.

She also won two Emmy awards for her voice-over work on the animated black sitcom The PJs.

Ja'net is survived by her three children.
