Ariana Grande Honors Father's Day With Rare Photo With Her Estranged Dad

2019 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival - Weekend 2 - Day 3

Ariana Grande gave her estranged father Edward Butera the sweetest shoutout on Father's Day.

Every year, Grande, who has had a somewhat distant relationship with Butera over the years, always finds it in her heart to show her dad some love in honor of the holiday. This year was no exception, as the pop star took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday (June 16) with an endearing image of the pair from one of her recent sold-out shows this month.

The adorable father-daughter moment — taken on June 1 outside the American Airlines Arena in Florida after her "Sweetener World Tour" stop in Miami — sees a kissy-faced Grande posing with a smiling Butera backstage after the concert. "Foreva," Grande captions the sweet photo.

Butera was in attendance on the night of the performance and tweeted his daughter's praises following the presentation. "What a great show, very proud of you and hope you get to rest," he wrote at the time, along with snaps from the show.

It's the latest interaction the "7 Rings" has shared publicly as it pertains to her bond with Butera. Grande previously reconnected with her father on Christmas via FaceTime.

Grande's estranged relationship with her father was onset after Butera separated from her mother, Joan, when she was just eight-years-old. She detailed her difficult bond with her dad in a 2014 interview withSeventeen, calling it "one of the hardest things" she's dealt with.

"The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him," she confessed. "So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them."
